Legend of Heaven's deer
The Legend of Heaven's Deer and the Hounds of Hell goes by many names. It is also know as The Legend of the Sky Fox and the Wild Hunt, The Cloud Maiden and the Hundred Suitors, The Soul Chased by Temptation, and many other.
The legend goes like this:
In the distant past, a wondrous sight could be seen crossing the sky: A blue deer, made of light and fire was running over the clouds, followed by several hounds, made of brimstone and the fires of Hell. The hunt lit up the skies at night, and during the day, the silver rainbow was so frightened by this sight that it refused to show up for several days. A hunting horn was said to be heard, but no hunter could be seen. Once in a while, a hound would depart from the group, tired by the chase, and ran towards a lake to drink and freshen itself, or hid inside a mountain, to rest, away for the invisible hunter. For the hunter, it was said, is the herald of the end of the current age, and as soon as his leisure is done, and the deer caught, he will start destroying the world, and even his hounds are afraid of him.
